War Child - John Lennon homage
Give peace a chance
On 8 December 2005, it was exactly 25 years ago that John Lennon was shot dead in front of his house in New York. BKB, together with the Melkweg and Willem van Zeeland, organised ‘Give peace a chance’: a homage to the legendary Lennon, his music and his contribution to peace. The proceeds from the evening were donated to War Child.

Various Dutch artists performed their favourite Lennon songs in the packed Melkweg. The musicians included: Michiel Borstlap (Imagine), Armand (Working Class Hero), Ellen ten Damme (Love), Thé Lau (I’m the Walrus), Lucretia van der Vloot (Instant Karma), Johan (Nowhere Man), Tim Akkerman – Di-Rect (Help), Acda en de Munnik (Norwegian Wood). Ernst Jansz (Love), Birgit (Jealous Guy), Bennie Jolink (I’m a Loser) and Freek de Jonge (Yer Blues).
