In the series ‘The Quest’ Lennart Booij went in search of works of art thought to be lost and the stories behind remarkable artists. Who were they and where did their great passion for innovation come from? He immersed himself in their lives, learned about their unorthodox attitude to life and admired their beautiful designs.

Over four episodes of ‘The Quest’ Booij tried to uncover these works and the stories behind them. An impressionist (Witsen) from the early 1900s, a furniture maker (Rietveld) from 1918, a pottery designer (Colenbrander) from 1925 and a remarkable museum director (Sandberg) who designed after the war in order to be free.
